My own experience with my son is a perfect example. He has countless toys and books. But the other day, he was trying to eat the soil again from one of our plants and I threw an empty cardboard shoe box along the hallway to distract him. That empty shoe box has given him so much happiness and entertainment. It was totally unexpected, especially since I was trying to figure out the perfect Christmas gift for him.
